Installation éphémère vivante

C’est au cœur du Vieux-Montréal que nous sommes instantanément happés par la lumière jaillissante du cœur des débris encore chauds de l’intérieur du National Trust. De par son statut de patrimoine architectural, seule la façade de cet édifice emblématique de la Seconde guerre mondiale est restée debout.
Dans une œuvre performative in situ, l’artiste Nancy Guilmette, portée par l’audace de SonoLux, a transformé ce lieu endormi en un espace de retour à la vie. Le lit, d’un blanc immaculé, prend place dans la Chambre 102 du futur espace hôtellier.
C’est ici que l’artiste nous plonge dans cette dualité caractérisée entre une architecture froide véhiculée par le béton et la vivacité de cette nature croissante. Absorbant l’énergie nécessaire à leur survie, les plantes apportent une présence vivante et incongrue dans un lieu presque fantôme.
Attisés par la curiosité, le temps s’arrêtant l’espace d’un instant, nous nous interrogeons sur la place de la nature, du vivant.

Ephemeral living installation
It is in the heart of Old Montreal that we are instantly caught by the light gushing from the heart of the still hot debris from inside the National Trust.
Due to its architectural heritage status, only the facade of this emblematic building from the Second World War has remained standing. In a performative work in situ, the artist Nancy Guilmette, driven by the audacity of SonoLux, has transformed this sleeping place into a space to return to life.
The immaculate white bed is located in Room 102 of the future SonoLux hotel space. It is here that the artist plunges us into this
characteristic duality between a cold architecture conveyed by concrete and the vivacity of this
growing nature. Absorbing the energy necessary for their survival, the plants bring a living and
incongruous presence to an almost ghostly place. Fueled by curiosity, time stopping for a
moment, we wonder about the place of nature, of the living.
