Installation éphémère vivante

Après trois éditions remarquées de Jardin de Passage, l’artiste multidisciplinaire Nancy Guilmette poursuit son exploration des liens intimes entre l’art, le design, l’architecture et la nature, en bourgeonnant ses nouvelles plantations dans le squelette de la chambre 202 d’un hôtel en construction sur l’avenue Laurier, à deux pousses de Saint-Laurent.
Avant même d’héberger et de séduire, l’Hôtel Mile End verra donc son armature bétonnée accueillir, du 1er au 30 septembre, l’impressionnant aménagement végétal de l’artiste dans un lieu qui deviendra à son ouverture une vitrine affirmée des artistes visuels et de la scène d’ici, reconnus et en devenir.

Tous les jours, à l’étage et sous harnais de protection, NG donnera vie à l’installation par l’activation du système d’arrosage, le tamisage adapté de l’éclairage et le lancement de la trame sonore, dont une œuvre phare de la musique post-romantique en parfaite symbiose avec la nature mise en vitrine. L'artiste verra également à l’entretien des plants sous le regard du public de 20h à 21h.

Pendant le mois de septembre prochain, les Montréalais et Montréalaises seront donc conviés à contempler devant une serre improvisée, éphémère et ouverte aux quatre-vents la marche immémoriale de la nature, devenue à part entière un événement culturel.

Ephemeral living installation
After three remarkable editions of Passing Garden, the multidisciplinary artist Nancy Guilmette continues her exploration of the intimate links between art, design, architecture and nature, by sprouting her new plants in the skeleton of room 202 of a hotel under construction on Laurier Avenue, a couple “sprouts” from Saint-Laurent.
Before even hosting and entertaining, the Mile End Hotel’s will see its concrete framing welcome the artist's impressive plant layout from September 1st to the 30th.The site will become at its opening; an assertive display for visual artists and the local scene, both recognized and in the making.
Every day, on the upper floor and under a protective harness, NG will bring the installation to life by activating the sprinkler system, an adapted lighting and the launch of a soundtrack which will include a landmark piece of post-romantic music set in perfect harmony with the nature put on display. The artist will also see to the maintenance of plants under the watchful eye of the public from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

During the coming month of September, Montrealers will therefore be invited to contemplate the ephemeral improvised greenhouse, open to the four winds and the immemorial march of nature, becoming in of itself a full-fledged cultural event.
